The last few weeks have been a dream come true for my family and me. It has always been a dream of mine to play Division 1 football. I would like to thank the Rhode Island coaches for believing in me and allowing that dream to come to fruition last week. However, a few days ago, i was presented with an opportunity much bigger than football - to play football for the U.S. Naval Academy and server my country! After very long and thoughtful conversations with my family, coaches, and friends, i have decided to de-commit from URI to pursue the next cchapter of my life as a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy! With that said, i will begin my time at the Naval Academy Prep School this summer and then join the team and the Academy. I hope all respect my decision and #beatArmy!!

About Me

I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a 3 year starting QB for Canisius High School in Buffalo, NY. As a sophomore I helped lead our team to a Monsignor Martin Championship and then to a NYS Title. We won the NYS Catholic League Title 25-24 over Cardinal Hayes in dramatic fashion. I threw a TD with zero seconds left to WR Nik McMillian and our senior captain CJ Ozolins scored a 2-point conversion to win it. I finished 5th in NYS in total yards and 47th in the country for all sophomores. After NYS cancelled our fall 2020 season we only had the opportunity to play 5 spring games that once again ended with a Monsignor Martin Championship. Our senior year is underway and the goals remain the same. To win a 3rd Monsignor Martin Championship and have another shot at a state championship.

SIZE

Tyler has good size for a 2022 Dual Threat QB at 6'0" 185 lbs. He's very mobile within the pocket, able to create added space for himself as he surveys the field for potential targets. A pure dual threat, able to deliver whether he's set up in the pocket or on a roll out. High release point, adding height to his delivery.

ACCURACY

Works well within the flow of the game. Does a great job leading his receivers, adding a soft touch on his release. His throws are in-line with his receivers with a tight spiral and zip on the ball. When feet are set, his accuracy is increased.

ARM STRENGTH

Tyler gets the ball out in a hurry, leaving the defense with very little time to react.

RELEASE

An over the top delivery with a high release point. The ball is held back at three-quarters, creating a quick follow-through, able to generate strong momentum upon release.

THROW ON RUN

This is an area of strength for Tyler. He's an athletic QB with very good lateral movement. Gets off the block quickly while assessing the passing situation downfield. Has worked to improve on his body rotation, squaring up to target.

FOOTWORK/SPEED

Tyler is a dynamic dual threat QB with laser 4.5 speed. He can turn broken plays into an 80 yard TD quickly. Teams must account for this when game planning for Tyler.

POISE

Very confident in his abilities as a QB. He trusts his instincts, able to keep plays alive while showing off his creativity.

POCKET PRESENCE

Able to pick up defensive pressure, creating added space for himself.

DECISION MAKING

Does a nice job with his initial read on the defense. Displays patience in the backfield, waiting for the play to develop.

TOUCH

His throws are made with a soft touch, whether its over defensive coverage or in between zone coverage. His passes made at long range includes a tight trajectory, little air underneath.

Personal Life

I am blessed to have a mom and dad that support me as much as my parents do. My dad started coaching me when I was 6 and taught me how to play the game and to play QB. My mom always made sure our bags were packed with all our equipment and everything else we needed. My love for football started then and really took off when we won the “Mud Bowl, Super Bowl” when I was 9 years old 21-0. The rain and mud was so bad it took 30 minutes to get my jersey off afterwards. To this day it was one of the most memorable times of my life. My parents have taken me to visit schools, camps, and training all over the US and have been my biggest supporters.

My brother Jadon is also a great QB and it has been awesome playing with him and getting to celebrate winning the state title together. He can play any position on the field and is always there to support me. My sister Olivia finally likes coming to games and always sending me words of encouragement or making me something for good luck. My grandparents, aunts and uncles have always come to our games and supported me no matter what. My grandpa is more into film and watching the games over and over again more than anyone I know. I have many great friends, coaches, and trainers that have helped me along the way. Coach Robbins gave me the opportunity to start as a sophomore and I hope that I have earned that along the way.

Outside of football I love watching football and playing basketball or golf. Working out and spending time with family and friends is what I enjoy most. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today and where I am going next!
